As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I’ve seen diet trends come and go throughout my career and have witnessed the feelings of frustration and failure that accompany the quest to live up to the ‘latest and greatest’ eating or exercise plan. I’ve seen the life disruption caused by disordered eating so it’s my passion to guide others to discover a better way. Eating to fuel our lives need not be so complicated! Regardless of how much you weigh or how ‘clean’ your diet is, you can learn to balance eating for nourishment AND enjoyment, and free yourself forever from obsessive diets. No detox required! My favorite ‘natural’ detoxes: Being outdoors! Hiking & jogging local trails and exploring new trails when traveling; kicking back with my Kindle, a glass of wine and some retro tunes or jazz. I’m also a recent ‘re-convert’ to yoga and it’s benefits --and regular attention to nourishing my Christian faith is important to me. Enjoying life’s adventures with my husband (a custom home builder) and daughter (a sophomore majoring in Architecture) also help keep me grounded. I specialize in eating disorders and mindful eating, having worked with college students for the past 15 years at Kansas State University. I co-chair our Eating Disorders Team and thus believe strongly in partnering with other treatment team professionals to best support recovery. I became licensed in Am I Hungry mindful eating coaching in Spring 2016 and am so excited about the opportunity to inspire others to enjoy a more peaceful relationship with food and body.
