About Joanne:

I am a certified Professional Health and Wellness Coach with 5 years coaching experience. 

I am a graduate of the Wellcoaches® advanced coach training programme in the USA. Wellcoaches is widely regarded as setting the gold standard for professional coaches in health, fitness, and wellness. Certified coaches are trained to apply core competencies of coaching psychology. My coaching approach integrates the evidence-based principles, tools and strategies of coaching and behavioural psychology, positive psychology, adult learning theory, emotional intelligence and mindfulness, as well as insights from neuroscience.

I am also a certified Personal Trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and a facilitator and referral Coach for almost all of the Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating Programs (including for Diabetes, Bariatric Surgery and Workplace Wellness).

Facilitating groups and coaching individuals in the Am I Hungry? programmes is a wonderful addition to my services. It compliments my coach training and contributes to my skill set. It also resonates with my personal journey and is in line with my values and priorities in life. Having myself been in and out of different clothes sizes, and in and out of regular exercise for much of my adult life, I am particularly attuned to coaching women on body acceptance and physical activity issues.

I am convinced that people need to change thoughts and emotions if they want behaviour change to be sustainable and lasting. Therefore, I work with clients to foster mindset as well as behaviour change.  I do this by empowering my clients through increased self-awareness and self-belief so they can discover their own, personalised solutions and paths to sustainable health and wellbeing. 

I am often inspired by my clients as they develop belief in their own ability to make the changes they most want for themselves. Through coaching I am constantly reminded how amazing the human mind and spirit are.

From my experience the process and outcomes of partnering with a Coach are the same. The process both requires and cultivates increased self-awareness, self-compassion, self-acceptance and self-care.
