I don't buy donuts very often. I LOVE donuts. When I buy a package, I eat A PACKAGE. I don't mean the ones in the box or bag, I buy them from the deli. I have learned to buy just a serving. At work we get donuts once or twice a month and I tell myself that is often enough but somtimes it's not...
The other day I was craving donuts and I decided to go get one. Then I bought two. When I was getting them out of the case I couldn't reach the one I wanted so I got one out of the front even though it wasn't what I really wanted.
I got home and ate - surprise - two donuts. Very quickly.
I remember feeling slightly guilty about eating them, and I remember thinking the one I hadn't originally wanted was actually very good. Then they were gone. A few minutes later I realized I couldn't recall what they really tasted like. I remembered what donuts taste like but not THOSE donuts. I had eaten them too fast while thinking about all this other STUFF and they were gone before I finished them.
Thank goodness tonight is our "Mindful Eating" potluck!
